Why did we choose Akumal, Mexico? In February, while vacationing in Akumal, we got engaged. Once we got back, we did extensive research to plan the wedding somewhere in Chicago or the Midwest. Not satisfied with any of the wedding or reception sites, we eventually found out that Hotel Akumal Caribe, near our engagement site, hosts weddings. Akumal is so magical and beautiful that, while we were trying to decide where to have the ceremony and reception, it became the obvious choice.

November 5, 2005 is the date, and why? Five years ago, on the first weekend in November, we went on our first date. To those of you that might relate, it was at the Beat Kitchen in Chicago. We went to see a rockabilly band.
