Tulum

Tulum is about a 20-minute drive south of Akumal and is the only Mayan City built directly on the ocean. The site which is thought to date from 400-900 AD is indeed worth a visit. The website is a good source of information. Tour guides are available, or you can just wonder around. After you have toured the Mayan ruins and admired the view, take a refreshing dip in the inviting waters of the Caribbean. There is a beautiful pristine beach that lies directly in front of the site.
