Chichen Itza

Chichen Itza is the most visited archaeological site in the Yucatan. Chichen Itza’s stunning examples of post-classic period architecture really must be seen in person to be appreciated. It’s recommend that you hire a guide or at least buy a booklet to better understand this exceptional site. Chichen Itza can be reached by continuing on pass Coba until you reach the Autopista at Valladolid. There are numerous tour buses that will take you there daily. If you prefer to go it alone, it’s recommend you get there early (the gates open at 9:00 am.) There is something magical about being on the grounds of the city as the morning sun rises, with very few other people about. As the day progresses the tour buses will start coming in delivering a crowd of tourists. The evening "laser show" alone is worth the trip. It takes a full hour to reach the location.
